I’m an academic-turned-freelance scholar, focusing on education, the arts, and helping my clients unearth the best version of themselves.

Let me help you reclaim your voice, on the page or on the stage.

Musical Consultation and Vocal Coaching

I have trained professional singers for over twenty years. I believe “everyone can… and should… use their voice!"

My goal is to provide whatever guidance necessary, whether that be technical, musical, dramatic, vocational, philosophical, or otherwise, to allow singers to discover their true current "voice" and how it wishes to express itself. Click on the above heading to get started!

I am also available for institutional consultations and teaching workshops, as well as individualized mentorship sessions.

Master Classes and Workshops

More and more of my business has gone on the road, spending short residencies at school districts, performing arts festivals, and even wellness fairs to promote holistic voice care.

“Dr. Gerbi is not only an innovative educator, she is also the kind of mentor and friend that will go out of her way to lend a helping hand when you need it most. Her students and colleagues should count themselves among the luckiest people in both industry and academia.”

Freelance Author, Writing and Career Coaching

THE DOCTOR IS IN, and here to help!

I offer all of the "street cred" of an academic (a Doctorate from Columbia University, 15 years working in higher education, another 10 years in K-12), and specialize in the unique needs of developing authors, artists, and small businesses. Click on the above heading to get started!

An Intro to Dr. G

(The teacher, the cookie lover, the husky whisperer)

“Elizabeth Gerbi is one of the most skilled, smartest, devoted, hardest working, kindest educators I know! An exquisite human being! In a nut shell: fiercely talented with a huge heart.”

Erin Nicole Stewart, Broadway Performer

“Dr. Elizabeth Gerbi is one of the best pedagogues in the business. She is able to quickly assess the needs of her students and compassionately helps them achieve their goals. Her students are prepared for wherever life will take them. Liz is a tremendous musician herself, with many performing and conducting credits. She brings great intelligence, integrity, kindness and fun to her classrooms and her performances. Anyone would be blessed to work with her."

-Kathleen Bell, Singing Teacher, “Sing for Life”

The focus of my current scholarship is on creating more effective pathways of opportunity for those historically marginalized persons who wish to express themselves through the versatile medium of musical theatre, which I believe to be among the most inclusive of art forms.

“Elizabeth and I co-authored the book 'Bob Marks' 88 Keys to Successful Singing Performances,' which was published in December 2020. Elizabeth was able to masterfully take information from our conversations, articles I've written, my website, tweets, and classes I've taught, blending them into what became the finished book. She was always a pleasure to work with, knowledgeable, efficient, and methodical. I recommend her highly.”

-Bob Marks, Broadway Vocal Coach

Avocational Artist, Athlete and Beyond

I believe that there is no line between who I am inside or outside the classroom, nor does such a false division occur between performers and the situated context of their lives. I endeavor to teach students to think of their performance as a holistic event, equally borne in how they nourish themselves, how they move, and how they interact with the world around them in addition how they practice. Therefore, I integrate a lifetime of commitment to health and wellness to my teaching, modeling how I believe students should view themselves as an “n=1” experiment, and extending the benefit of these to my students.

Such ventures have lead me to become a National Council of Strength and Fitness-certified personal trainer and yoga instructor, and complete endurance events for charity (including a century bike tour and five marathons in two countries). I also explore character development through portraiture, and, more spend nearly every day in the kitchen learning more about the value of whole foods in cooking and baking, exploring keto, paleo, vegetarian, vegan, and “nutritarian” literature and cuisines to best support our goals.
